Een internationale groep studenten en docenten van de Berlijnse Weißensee kunstacademie presenteert de internationale fotografie- en filmexpositie Even Stilte, als onderdeel van de ‘Europese Maand van de Fotografie’ (EMOP). Ze vullen de eeuwenoude Ceciliakapel met verrassende fotografie- en media-installaties.
De titel van de expositie ‘Even Stilte’ verwijst naar de uitnodiging om je in verschillende hoeken van de ruimte terug te trekken en mee te laten voeren op een visuele reis. Van magische projecties op het plafond, een visuele documentatie van het leven van schapen rondom Berlijn, tot een diepblauwe wereld van keramische objecten. De werken lopen uiteen van analoge handgemaakte foto’s tot hedendaagse digitale technieken.
Een aantal lokale Hoornse kunstenaars, waaronder Anna Swagerman en Amrita Karunaratne, is bij het initiatief betrokken. Swagerman studeerde af aan de genoemde academie en zag de Europese Maand van de Fotografie, die gelijktijdig in Berlijn plaatsvindt, als een mooie kans om een stukje van deze stad naar Hoorn te brengen.

International photography and film exhibition
On Friday March 10th, Expoost (Hoorn, Netherlands) will open its doors at 4:00 p.m. with a festive opening and presents the exhibition ‘Even Stilte’ by an international group of students and lecturers from the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art as part of the ‘European Month of Photography’ (EMOP).
They will fill the ancient Cecilia chapel with surprising photography- and media installations. The title of the exhibition ‘Even Stilte’ (‘Silence for a bit’) refers to the invitation to retreat to different corners of the space and to be taken on a visual journey. From magical projections on the ceiling, a visual documentation of the life of sheep around Berlin, to a deep blue world of ceramic objects. The works range from analog handmade photographs to contemporary digital techniques.
A number of local artists from Hoorn, among which Anna Swagerman and Amrita Karunaratne, are involved in this initiative. They saw the European Month of Photography, which takes place simultaneously in Berlin, as an opportunity to also draw attention to this in Hoorn.
